At a junction with the route de Diekirch and CR332, the cyclist, who approached from Mont Saint-Nicolas, was knocked off his bike by a car, finding himself on the vehicle's bonnet, before being thrown against a tree.

(ADW) A young cyclist was hit by a car in Vianden on Saturday afternoon in a serious road accident.

At a junction with the route de Diekirch and CR332, the cyclist, who approached from Mont Saint-Nicolas, was knocked off his bike by a car, finding himself on the vehicle's bonnet, before being thrown against a tree.

Aged 16 and of Dutch nationality, the young cyclist suffered serious injuries and was airlifted by helicopter to Ettelbruck hospital. He was part of a group of cyclists training in Luxembourg.

The car driver and passengers all suffering from shock of the incident,were offered

psychological support from the “Protection Civile” emergency services.
