Meet the Discovery Zone juries

The Discovery Zone film festival is giving away not just one but two prizes this year, chosen by an international jury and local film critics.

(CS) The Discovery Zone film festival is giving away not just one but two prizes this year, chosen by an international jury and local film critics.

Eleven films are in the running for the official competition of the Luxembourg City Film Festival:

  • An Afghan Love Story (Wajma) by Barmak Akram
  • Berberian Sound Studio by Peter Strickland
  • Call Girl by Mikael Marcimain
  • CLIP by Maja Miloš
  • Closed Curtain (Parde) by Jafar Panahi
  • Consuming Spirits by Chris Sullivan
  • Elecktrick Children by Rebecca Thomas
  • Fill the Void by Rama Burshtein
  • Karaoke Girl by Visra Vichit-Vadakan
  • The Place Beyond the Pines by Derek Cianfrance
  • 7 Boxes by Juan Carlos Maneglia and Tana Schembori

For the first time, the festival is awarding a jury prize, bringing it one step closer to becoming an established European festival. The international jury features industry professionals from Europe and the Republic of Korea.

  • Simone Bär – Casting director (Germany)
  • Yun Su Chong – Director (Republic of Korea)
  • Jerôme Cornuau – Director (France)
  • Pol Cruchten – Director (Luxembourg)
  • Sam Garbarski – Director (Belgium)

A second prize will be awarded by a panel of Luxembourg film critics. These include:

  • Gaston Carré – Luxemburger Wort
  • Fernand-Joseph Meyer – La Semaine
  • Danièle Michels – RTL
  • Loïc Tanson – Le Jeudi
  • Gian Maria Tore – d'Lëtzebuerger Land
