Miss Portugal Luxembourg cancelled this year
In a similar concept to the Luxembourg Irish Rose of Tralee, Miss Portugal Luxembourg has taken place for 14 editions in the Grand Duchy, however it has now been announced that the contest will not take place this year.
The surprise announcement was made by the Miss Portugal Luxembourg committee part of the association “Onda Jovem”, responsible for organising the event since 2001.
"After 14 editions we have decided to change the concept of the competition", explained Onda Jovem in a press statement.
The details of a new concept will be researched and worked on until spring 2016, and could become similar to that of the Luxembourg Irish Rose of Tralee, meaning more than just a beauty contest. The pre-selection for next year's contest now scheduled for May 2016.
The final will then take place in November 2016 to elect Miss Portugal Luxembourg for 2017 to be the successor to Jessica Duarte, crowned Miss Portugal 2015 and exceptionally wearing it for two years.
