Moselle breaches its banks
Recent heavy rain prompted the Moselle river to flood in Remich and Schengen on Tuesday afternoon.
According to flood management website inondations.lu, water levels exceeded 4.63 metres in Remich, rising to 5.49 metres in Stadtbredimus and 5.35 metres in Grevenmacher by 2pm.
The result saw the promenade, the road and children's play areas submerged in muddy river water.
Levels are expected to drop below vigilance levels (5.3 metres) by Wednesday evening in Stadtbredimus. For more information on flooding in Luxembourg, visit www.inondations.lu.
