A baby and its mother were hospitalised on Friday after they were found seriously injured close to Luxembourg City's train station. Police have provided little information, however.

A baby and its mother were found seriously injured on the pavement in rue Fort Wallis close to Luxembourg City's train station on Friday afternoon.

According to police, the two was discovered at around 3pm. The child, aged just a few months old, had life threatening injuries, police indicated.

They did not provide any further information about the circumstances or nature of injuries.

Both victims were receiving hospital treatment on Friday. Police have opened an investigation.
