A police patrol in the early hours of Sunday morning in Luxembourg City, found itself following what officers believed to be a suspicious car, as it was travelling extremely slowly.

The incident occurred at about 1am on Boulevard Joseph II and the police clocked the car doing a breath-taking … 8km per hour.

When the police stopped the vehicle, which didn’t prove to be a difficult task, and questioned the occupants, the driver simply stated he was driving slowly to allow passengers to catch Pokémon Go characters more easily.

The police report does not state whether the ploy was successful in capturing many Pokémons, but the game proved to be over for the driver who was fined.

Although Pokémon Go madness has swept across Luxembourg this summer, police do warn players to be vigilant when playing.
