(CS/str) While the spectacular fireworks display on the eve of National Day delighted crowds watching in the capital, residents in Clausen were less enthusiastic when they discovered the damage cause by falling ashes.

The weather conditions caused thick smoke to envelop the Pfaffenthal and Clausen after the fireworks. Additionally, there was a shower of leftover paper and ashes raining down on the neighbourhoods below Dräi Eechelen, from where the display was launched.

However, some of the remains were still smouldering hot, leaving damage to the varnish of cars parked in the area. Damage claims can be directed to the City of Luxembourg.
