(CS) Luxembourg's hospital clowns will be back in action on Monday, after five organisations rallied to support the charity “Île aux Clowns” which was threatened with closure earlier this year.

Through the help of the “Fondatioun Kriibskrank Kanner”, Servior, HELP, financial services company KPMG and law firm Clifford Chance, a quick solution was found to get the clown charity back on its feet.

Each of the organisations donated 50,000 euros to keep the clowns going. In a next step, the charity will look to raise money through donations and honorary memberships to reach an annual budget of 250,000 euros.

The “Île aux Clowns” sends performers to Luxembourg hospitals, nursing home and other care facilities to provide a moment of laughter and joy to young and old patients, and their families.

The project was funded through “Archipel”, a branch of “Objectif Plein Emploi”, which folded earlier in the year.

Supporters of the charity quickly launched a public appeal to help the charity stay on its feet, and even Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker pledged his support.

Donations in support of the “Île aux Clowns” can be made to IBAN LU36 0019 4155 3263 5000.
