New plan for Luxexpo's hall 6 by end of year
(CS/jag) After “den Atelier” pulled out of a project to convert hall 6 of Luxexpo in Kirchberg into a concert venue, the plan could be revitalised under a new proposal.
The Chamber of Commerce and Luxembourg City, co-owners of Luxexpo, are expected to agree on a new concept for hall 6 by the end of the year.
Reportedly on the table is a plan for a multi-purpose venue. Financial evaluation and planning are still underway, sources commented.
A thorough renovation could make the hall available for concerts, conferences, student events or fairs within the next two years.
“Den Atelier” had initially hoped to open its new H6 venue in April this year, but had to pull out of the project because of underestimated costs to convert the space, install emergency exists and ventilation, and soundproofing the premises.
Under the new plan, Luxexpo would continue to run the hall but private operators, such as the Atelier, could book it for events.
However, sources close to the project said that it would not be a competitor to the Rockhal in Esch/Alzette. Both in size and technical equipment the venues could not be compared with each other. Additionally, talks and technical planning are still in the early stages.
The news about the hall 6 development was first reported by broadcaster RTL on Friday and has since been confirmed to the “Luxemburger Wort”.
