New rules let flight passengers use mobile on travels
(MSS/CS) New European legislation will allow flight passengers to use their electronic devices on flight mode during travels; however, Luxair has decided to confirm the old regulation, which requires passengers to switch off their devices during take-off and landing.
The new EU regulation is set to come into action in October 2014. Until then, at least, Luxair passengers will continue to have to switch off their devices during take-off and landing, as well as stowing them in a pocket or bag.
According to Luxair this decision was taken in accordance with another stipulation by the European Aviation Safety Agency, which foresees that airlines need to ensure that there is no danger of injury from unfastened objects.
The airline had previously remained cautious about the new regulation, saying it would take further tests to ensure that safety is guaranteed when mobile devices are left in flight mode during take-off, landing and taxiing.
The airline intends to monitor the situation and new developments closely and adapt its regulations accordingly, in order to ensure the best service possible to its customers, according to an official statement.
Meanwhile, Luxair is reminding passengers to follow instructions issued by crew members about the use of mobile devices on its flights.
