New security measures announced for accident-prone road
Following the horrific road accident that occurred in a notorious hot-spot on Thursday night killing the driver, the government has reacted demanding safety measure be installed on the road as soon as possible.
The CR118 between Angelsberg and Mersch has seen many accidents over the years, but Thursday night's fatal crash caused the Ministry of Infrastructure to spring into action and announce a series of new security measures, which are:
- To install guardrails along the stretch of road concerned
- Make existing roadsigns more visible, add more, as well as additional warning signals.
- Setting up a fixed speed camera in 2017
- Strengthening mobile speed camera checks pending the commissioning of the fixed camera.
"These measures will be completed as soon as possible," stated Minister, François Bausch.
