(JB) More than 16,000 people visited the capital's museums on Saturday night, marking an 18 percent increase compared with last year.

A total 16,402 people were recorded across the seven museums which participated in the 15th edition of Night of the Museums.

The museums were lit up by with bright projections to mark the year of light while each museum hosted its own special events, workshops and exhibtions to mark the nocturnal opening event.

Meanwhile, visitors were ferried between museums by the old Routemaster buses and by BMW Muzzolini.

If you missed out this year, organisers have announced next year's event will take place on October 8.
