The New World Theatre Club tackles issues surrounding Irishness and identity when it performs Brian Friel's Translations.

The group, which has been staging English language plays in Luxembourg for the last 40 years, will give eight performances from November 9 to 16 at the Check Inn in Findel.

Translations takes audiences into the heart of a small farming village on the west coast of Ireland in the early 19th Century just as English soldiers arrive to create an Ordnance Survey map of the area.

Their arrival and work, which involves anglicising the names of places, upsets the small, close-knit community, turning the lives of its residents upside down for better and worse.

Tickets cost 18 euros for adults, 15 euros for members and 12 euros for students. There will be eight performances in total.
