Ooh, have a banana!
Creative juices were flowing on Sunday when visitors took part in the launch of Luxembourg's newest arts venue.
BananneFabrik is a new cultural rehearsal space forged out of a former fruit warehouse in Bonnevoie.
After a year of renovations, it opened its doors to scores of curious public who joined in with a line-up of events lasting all day.
From funny photos to quizzes and tours to dance and theatrical performances, the day was jam-packed with inspiring activities for people of all ages. The theme pulling them altogether however, was the humble banana, which featured in all events.
Angélique D'Onghia, who manages one of the creative organisations which will use the new rehearsal space, told wort.lu/en: “We ordered in 300 bananas and didn't have enough in the end. We just weren't expecting so many people! We were so happy with the numbers, especially because the weather was so bad. It shows that people were curious about the place and wanted to find out more.”
Since its transformation BananneFabrik is now the headquarters for a group of performance collectives including TROIS C-L choreographers, the Kasemattentheatre, independent artists’ collective MASKéNADA, the Théâtre de Centaure, the Théâtre National (TNL) and the Théâtre Federatioun.
