(CS) Luxembourg police this weekend apprehended three men, suspected of stealing over 100 tyres, as well as a number of other items, such as car radios and other small electronics.

The arrests were made after unknown suspects in the night from June 9 to 10 broke into a warehouse of a tyre dealer in Windhof, stealing 25 to 30 lorry tyres. The men were caught on CCTV, allowing police to trace their vehicle, a FIAT Ducato.

A few days prior to this incident, between June 5 and 8, a number of wheels were stolen in Belgian town Fleurus. According to an anonymous tip-off to the seller, the tyres were stored in Eischen.

Indeed, a police investigation revealed the stolen goods, including 115 winter tyres, covered by a tarpaulin near a residential home. The home owner said he had no idea that the tyres were stolen.

Police were able to apprehend the suspects when they arrived at the scene in the FIAT van. A search of the premises revealed further wares, including several car radios, small screens and other electronic goods also dumped there by the suspects.

The prosecutor's office will decide the next steps in the investigation.
