(CS) From August 1 public toilets in the capital will be free to access, with Luxembourg City authorities ensuring their cleanliness during official opening hours.

Public toilets at the Cercle Cité, the Aldringen underpass, Glacis car park, Place Guillaume II, Place de la Constitution, Place du Théâtre, Place des Martyrs, near the Bock and at the pirate ship playground will be free starting next month.

Cleaning services, however, will only tend to the facilities during the opening hours of the Ville de Luxembourg authorities, from 8am until 6pm on weekdays.

Luxembourg City mayor Lydie Polfer commented that the measure was aimed at improving hygiene in the capital and preventing people from urinating in public.
