Raccoons seized from kennel
Police have seized three raccoons who were being kept illegally at a property on the outskirts of the capital.
The animals were found on Thursday in Rollingergrund where they were being kept in a kennel measuring 10 by 3 metres.
Under the Nature and Conservation Act of January 19, 2004, it is illegal to keep wild animals in captivity without permissions. The Hunting Act of May 25, 2011, also prohibits the keeping of wild animals such as raccoons.
People who break the law in this way could face fines of up to 15,000 euros or a six-month prison sentence.
Police did not state what kind of punishment had been imposed on the people or person who kept the raccoons captive.
