Self check-in system at Luxembourg hospital to reduce waiting times
A Luxembourg hospital has introduced a digital self check-in system allowing patients to register their own arrival when they turn up for an appointment, without having to go through reception.
The new system was launched at the Niederkorn site of Centre Hospitalier Emile Mayrisch (CHEM) and is set to be extended to the centre in Esch.
A self check-in machine has been installed at the entrance and patients can confirm their arrival by scanning their health insurance card and confirming personal details relating to the appointment.
The new system was created to reduce the waiting time at reception and allow patients to be easily and immediately separated into inpatient and outpatient care.
Administrative and financial director of CHEM, Daniel Cardao, said the centre wants to offer patients "user-friendly, innovating and quick solutions" and explained they are testing new technologies in a number of different areas.
