It was on Thursday at noon at the cultural centre for the Bonnevoie association Stemm vun der Strooss, or “voice of the streets”, that the 13th edition of its "Christmas Party for the poor” took place.

In the presence of Mayor of Luxembourg, Xavier Bettel, nearly 300 homeless, long-term unemployed, former prisoners, drug addicts, alcoholics, mentally ill and asylum seekers, in short: people living in social exclusion, attended the festive event.

Distribution of gifts by Santa Claus

At 10 am, members of the association Stemm vun der Strooss, aided by an army of volunteers were busy preparing and decorating the Bonnevoie cultural centre to house the poor in the warmest surroundings possible.

At midday the meal took place as well as the distribution of Christmas gifts, orchestrated, just as it should be, by Santa himself. Added to that the band Silver Brothers provided musical entertainment.

The celebrations lasted until 6pm.
