Stabbing in Luxembourg City: suspect caught

A stabbing incident was reported on Saturday afternoon in Luxembourg City at about 5pm resulting in a man suffering from wounds to the the neck and shoulder.

A stabbing incident was reported on Saturday afternoon in Luxembourg City at about 5pm resulting in a man suffering from wounds to the the neck and shoulder.  According to the police, the bleeding victim then pleaded for help at a café located on Rue Joseph Junck. Meanwhile the attacker fled the scene.

At first it was unclear where the stabbing incident occurred after the victim was first seen emerging from Rue de Reims, however it has now been established that it happened at a car park on Rue d'Epernay, very close by.

The police quickly launched a manhunt and  simultaneously appealled for witnesses from the public. 

However just after 6pm the suspect was located at the central train station, complete with a knife that police immediately seized.

An arrest order was subsequently issued and a full investigation is now under way.

The victim was rushed to hospital by ambulance but the seriousness of his injuries are not known at this stage.
