Luxembourg-headquartered ArcelorMittal, the world's largest steelmaker, has announced a partnership with Silicon Valley-based Plug and Play, as the giant corporation attempts to tap into the creativity of start-up companies.

Plug and Play, which describes itself as a "start-up ecosystem", connects corporates with technology-focused start-ups.

Greg Ludkovsky, vice-president of ArcelorMittal and head of global research and development, said: "Our aim is to identify new ideas from start-ups that may accelerate the transformation of our company and help us develop superior products, processes and services."

The steelmaker said the partnership would further develop initiatives in areas like digitalisation and big data.
