A popular drama epitomising America's roaring Twenties is to be staged in Luxembourg in English. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald will be brought to the stage by the American Drama Group Europe for a two-night show on January 16 and 17.

A popular drama epitomising America's roaring Twenties is to be staged in Luxembourg in English. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald will be brought to the stage by the American Drama Group Europe for a two-night show on January 16 and 17.

Set among the high society living in a rich suburb of New York, the story traces the decadence and deception in this echelon of society prior to the 1929 financial crisis. The story begins in the summer of 1922 when Nick Carraway, a young man from Minnesota, moves to New York and befriends a mysterious man named Jay Gatsby.

Through Gatsby's extravagant parties at his Gothic mansion Nick becomes slowly drawn into a world ruled by money, decadence and deception.

The play explores the battle for love and hope over greed to what is widely expected to be lively and evocative soundtrack, depicting the glitz and glamour of the period.

The Great Gatsby is performed at the Abbaye de Neumunster on January 16 and 17. Tickets cost 20 euros.
