Thein to go! Young ADR member ousted from Luxembourg party

Luxembourg right-wing party ADR took the decision to oust young politician Joe Thein as a member due to a Facebook comment regarding the assassination of Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn.

Luxembourg right-wing party ADR took the decision to oust young politician Joe Thein as a member due to his actions on Facebook. He appeared to agree with hate comment stating that Foreign Minister Jean-Asselborn should be killed in a Kennedy-like assassination.

The decision was made on the basis of an investigation report presented to the panel by the party’s President Jean Schoos and Secretary-General Alex Penning.

A secret ballot by ADR members was then held following a plea by Thein himself, given the opportunity to present his case once again before the party.

ADR president Jean Schoos pointed out before the meeting that peace must return to the party.

The decision comes as no surprise as on the day after the polemic, the party issued a letter stating that members or those connected with ADR who cross the limits of the political debate or make extremist statements, would have to face internal party consequences.
