(ADW) A man is reported to have burst into a Schengen petrol station on Sunday night, before threatening staff at gun point and stealing a large amount of cash.

Shortly before midnight on the Route du Vin a man is reported to have suddenly entered the petrol station, brandishing a firearm and threatening staff.

As the workers had the cash register already open, the perpetrator grabbed the money before telling all the staff to go into an adjoining room so that he could flee the scene easily.

The thief left no trace at the petrol station and it is not known whether he fled on foot or in a car. It is also not known if he had an accomplice.

The suspect is described as being between 1.85 to 1.89 metres tall and of “normal” build. At the time of the crime he had a pair of tights over his head making facial features hard to distinguish. He wore a black jackets, a black baseball cap and black trousers. The man spoke German but with an “undefinable accent", according to the police reports.

Should anyone have witnessed the incident or saw something suspicious in the area on Sunday, they should contact their local police station.
