Three candidates in line for Luxembourg City mayor's office
(CS/DL) With Luxembourg City mayor and Prime Minister to-be Xavier Bettel expected to step down once coalition negotiations come to an end, three successors are lined-up to take over affairs in the capital.
One thing is for certain – the next mayor of Luxembourg City will be a woman.
At Wednesday morning's City Breakfast event it was announced that three members of the college of aldermen, all members of the DP, are being considered to succeed Bettel.
They are Simone Beissel, currently responsible for infrastructure, Colette Mart (schools) and Lydie Polfer (culture).
There could be a bigger shake-up in City council as “déi Gréng” are preparing to enter government, with personnel changes to be discussed in the college of aldermen and the City council in due course.
