(CS/jm) While a large majority of LCGB union members has spoke out against a strike in the construction sector, the OGBL's delegates have voted for strike action.

With negotiations over new collective agreements in the sector long causing discord between unions and employers, unions are now in disagreement over how to proceed.

However, with the OGBL representing some 80 percent of construction workers, the union does not intend to differ from its current course. “Our members are angry and ready to strike, because they are aware, that halting their work is the only way out of the unwillingness of employers to negotiate,” commented OGBL Secretary Jean-Luc De Matteis.

The union is therefore moving ahead with a ballot on the strike. At least 75 percent of workers need to vote in favour of the strike for it to be able to take place.
