Luxembourg's Governing Council has agreed given the thumbs up to a bill for the construction of a tram line between Luxembourg's Central train station and LuxExpo in Kirchberg.
The bill will allow the government to be involved in the creation of the tramway, providing a 230.52 million euro budget to build the line as well as storage centres, fund maintenance, purchase trams and carry out related studies.
The government budget will be the equivalent of two thirds of the total investment required. The remainder will be borne by the Ville de Luxembourg.
