(CS) Luxembourg unemployment rose to 7.1 percent in November, with a total of 17,967 jobseekers registered with employment office ADEM.

Year-on-year this marked an increase of 2,389 people, with unemployment at 6.3 percent in November 2012. Last month, unemployment was at 7 percent with 17,516 people out of work in the Grand Duchy.

The number of people living on full unemployment benefits also rose compared to last year, reaching 7,603 people at the end of November - an increase of 14.9 percent compared to the same period in 2012.

However, the number of workers placed under a job retention plan, which includes measures such as reduced working hours, declined by 7.2 percent year-on-year, with 4,521 people affected in November 2013.

Meanwhile, 2,694 jobs were available at ADEM in November, down from 2,897 in October. This decline could be largely due to fewer vacancies posted. While in October this number was at 2,590, last month only 1,602 new jobs were registered at ADEM.
