Cargolux took delivery of its 11th super freighter on Wednesday but the delivery from Seattle in the US was hotly discussed before it even touched down in Luxembourg.

The pilot of the Boeing 747-8F, named "City of Zhengzhou" in a nod to Cargolux's partnership with Chinese shareholder HNCA and Chinese hub in Zhengzhou, gave an aerobatic farewell at the Boeing plant, dipping the wings from side to side like a wave.

Although such a gesture is not uncommon, it is not without its dangers either.

This amateur footage shot from Seattle shows the somewhat hair-raising manoeuvre.

The aircraft then touched down at Findel airport in Luxembourg at 9am on Wednesday.

The new plane is mainly intended to fly on the line between Luxembourg and the new Cargolux hub in China.
