Winds of up to 100km/h in Luxembourg
(CS) National weather service Meteolux on Tuesday warned of wind gusts of up to 100km/h on Tuesday morning, with strong winds to continue over the course of the afternoon until Wednesday.
After a windy start to the week on Monday that saw several trees topple over in the night from Sunday, spring continued with stormy weather on Tuesday.
A number of roads were blocked in the morning with trees felled by the wind.
Meteolux on Tuesday issued an orange weather warning (or “danger”) with gusts of wind of up to 100km/h forecast for the morning. These will slightly abate in the afternoon to 55 to 85km/h until Wednesday.
Temperatures meanwhile range between 4 and 12°C. Rain showers are also on the horizon, which could even turn to hail in the northern regions of the country.
Pedestrians and motorists alike are warned of falling branches, as temporary road signs or barriers were already spotted lying in the streets, blown over by the wind during morning traffic.
