Police are on the look-out for car thieves after a woman surprised culprits in a car park in Bettembourg and heroically attempted to block the exit.

The incident occurred at about 12pm when a woman, just about to take her lunch break, spotted a suspicious man by a car park who appeared to be attempting to steal it, as she approached hers.

The man then pretended to urinate by the side of the car, but the woman noticed shards of glass from the vehicle, by his feet.

Another man was then seen crouched behind the woman’s car, before he ran to join the first suspect.

As the situation seemed extremely suspicious, the woman decided to block the exit of the car park with her car and alert the security personnel.

A truck arrived at the scene and then blocked access in the opposite direction.

However the manoeuvres by both driver did not appear to deter the car thieves as they mounted a high curb with the car, drove straight through bushes, and managed to escape.

The car is described as a dark grey Renault Mégane with the French number plate DY662NB.

Should anyone spot the vehicle, they should contact their local police station immediately.
