(CS/gs) A series of hacker attacks has prompted research institute CEPS/INSTEAD to temporarily take a national working conditions survey offline.

The online survey saw a high number of hacker attacks starting Friday afternoon, significantly slowing down the server and the website, making it very time consuming for respondents of the survey to get through the catalogue of questions.

A spokesperson of CEPS/INSTEAD told the “Luxemburger Wort” that these kinds of attacks on online surveys are very common. However, the institute has decided to temporarily take down the survey to address the problem and ensure faster access for respondents.

There was no risk in regards to the safety of data, CEPS/INSTEAD added.

Some 80,000 people have been selected to take part in the survey. Respondents are notified by mail. After the survey went live on Friday, around 600 people had already taken part.

CEPS/INSTEAD hopes to re-launch the survey as soon as possible and respondents are asked to keep checking the website over the coming days.
