Wort's on - Weekend events
The Discovery Zone film festival is coming to an end, but that doesn't mean that Luxembourg's events calendar is any less empty than usual. From Bolshoï ballet to Chaplin movies and rockabilly music, the weekend is as busy as ever.
THEATRE & OPERA
March 11, Le Corsaire, Utopia, 4pm
The Bolshoï ballet series at Utopia brings another classic with Adolphe Adam's Le Corsaire. Loosely based on a poem of the same name by Lord Byron, it tells the story of pirate Conrad who tries to save slave-girl Medora from the clutches of the evil Pasha, but Conrad is betrayed by his right-hand man...
March 11, Makulu South African Musical Group, Théâtre Municipal Esch/Alzette, 8pm
Bringing a flavour of South Africa to the Grand Duchy, the Makulu group combines dance, theatre and music in a stage show. The 40-strong group bring a live band, colourful costumes and the rhythm of South Africa.

Enjoy a screening of Charlie Chaplin's silent film City Lights as it should be, accompanied by live music played by Luxembourg's philharmonic orchestra.

March 9, Quadro Nuevo, Trifolion Echternach, 8pm
Quadro Nuevo bring world music to Echternach. Inspired by vagabond life and with influences reaching from Tango, Arabesque and Balkan Swing, together with improvisation, it's set to be an energetic night.
March 10, Dick Brave and The Backbeats, Den Atelier, doors open 8pm
Dick Brave, German pop star and Sasha's alter ego, will hit the Atelier with his rockabilly tunes. Put on your dancing shoes, grease your hair into a coif and get into the swing of things.
March 11, Apéro Jazz, Abbaye Neumünster, 11.30am
Listen to some Sunday morning Jazz, featuring Maxime Bender and friends, while brunching at the Brasserie Neumünster. Advance reservations for the brunch are recommended.

Ongoing until April 8, O Fim Do Mundo, Abbaye Neumünster
In the age of discovery, Portuguese ships encountered new worlds and seafaring men helped clear up some of the myths around the notion of the end of the world. This exhibition at the Abbaye sees contemporary Portuguese artists tackle the historical issue from a modern perspective.

Photographer Yvon Lambert explored city life in his previous works. In his latest exhibition at the CNA he turns to the countryside, farmers and their lives.

March 10, Second-hand book fair, Am Duerf Weimerskirch
The book stand from the International Bazar brings the ultimate offer for book lovers, selling second-hand books for just one euro each. Refreshments will also be available for bargain hunters.
March 10&11, Autojumble, Luxexpo, 10am-6pm
If you're looking for a new car, then Luxexpo will not quite deliver this weekend. Instead, the Autojumble will bring together lovers of old cars, and everyone interested in finding auto parts, and more information on the old timer lifestyle.
