The Guided Tour of the Exhibition: For Soprano with Handbag
Mudam Luxembourg – Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean presents soprano Joanna Dudley as part of the exhibition William Kentridge. More Sweetly Play the Dance and Luxembourg Museum Days.
The performance for museums has been developed by soprano Joanna Dudley with William Kentridge, who have worked together on numerous productions by Kentridge for the stage. The opposite of a classic guided tour, this is a moment of pure poetic pleasure that puts artworks against interpretation as part of a theatrical mise-en-scène.
Joanna Dudley (b. 1971, London) works internationally as a director, performer and singer creating performance, choreography and installation. Dudley has collaborated with the visual artist William Kentridge for
the past seven years as a co-creator, singer and performer. Her performances have been presented at Tate Modern, London (2018); Louisiana Museum, Copenhagen; Fondation Louis Vuitton, Paris (2017) and Gropius Bau, Berlin (2016). She has also performed at the Philharmonie de Paris (2018); the Dutch National Opera (2017); English National Opera (2016); the Metropolitan Opera, New York (2015) and Carnegie Hall, New York (2014).
