Bridget Jones is Mad About The Boy

UK author Helen Fielding has revealed the latest title of the Bridget Jones series, some 17 years after Bridget Jones' Diary became an international bestseller.

(CS) UK author Helen Fielding has revealed the latest title of the Bridget Jones series, some 17 years after Bridget Jones' Diary became an international bestseller.

The third book in the series is set to be published in English in October 2013, with the plot carefully kept under wraps. So far, Fielding has refused to comment on details of the story, but the author has said that Bridget's life has moved on.

The publisher meanwhile has revealed that the third book will see Bridget experiment with online dating, and that the diary-style novel will play with elements such as social media, which are playing a bigger role in people's lives.

What fate has in store for Bridget's love interest Mark Darcy, with whom she seemed to have happily settled at the end of Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, remains to be seen. Fielding has, however, confirmed that Daniel Cleaver, played by Hugh Grant in the films, will make a return.

The second installment of the Bridget Jones series was published 14 years ago, but the author revived Bridget for a newspaper column in The Independent seven years ago. The story saw Bridget becoming a mum and inspired a third film to be shot this year.

How the third novel will connect with this story has not been revealed. Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy is set for release on October 10, 2013.
