Four of the seven coronavirus patients being transferred to Luxembourg hospitals from France have arrived by air ambulance, the health ministry said on Tuesday.

Last week, Luxembourg agreed to take in seven patients from France's eastern region as French hospitals are struggling to cope with a deluge of patients.

Two have been taken to Kirchberg hospital, one to the Centre Hospital de Luxembourg (CHL) in Strassen and one to the Centre Hospitalier du Nord (ChdN) in Ettelbrück. The fourth patient landed on Monday evening.

The patients are all over 50 years old and will be treated in Luxembourg for the duration of their illness. The remaining three patients are expected to arrive in the coming days.

Luxembourg is not ruling out taking in more patients but this will depend on the number of cases within Luxembourg, the health ministry said.
